The Niantic Public House is brewing up a beer for a good cause. To help support the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut during the pandemic, the mom and pop brewery has created a fundraising beer for the Museum.

Named Niantic Shooting Star, the IPA beer will be sold during the month of September at Mermaid Liquors, Village Wine & Spirits and on tap at the Niantic Public House & Brewery; a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Museum.

“I am incredibly grateful to Jenny, Todd and everyone at the Niantic Public House,” said Holly Cheeseman, Museum Executive Director. “To have them create a special beer, with a portion of the sales proceeds to benefit the Niantic Children’s Museum, means so much. During these challenging times, we all need to rely on one another. Downtown Niantic is a very special place and their gesture is just one more demonstration of this fact.”

The beer name and label, designed in-house at the Museum, plays off of the Museum’s upcoming new logo, which will make its debut the night of the Children’s Museum online virtual gala and auction on September 11, 2020, 7-8 p.m. Hints of the new logo are presented throughout the beer label. The new logo will also don the Museum’s new name: Niantic Children’s Museum.

“Anytime we can give back to Niantic and help a great place like the Children’s Museum, it’s a reminder of why we started a brewery and why we chose Niantic,” said Jenny Sakowski, co-owner of the Niantic Public House.
