Owner Kyle Lydick

Scott’s Meats & Deli is a specialty market located in the heart of East Lyme just down the road from Flanders Four Corners. Their butcher shop offers a variety of premium meats. Their deli features sandwiches made from freshly baked bread delivered daily from New York and house-roasted meats accompanied by a variety of the freshest ingredients. Scott’s took home 3rd place for best grinder in the Sandwich and Grinder category of The Day’s Best of the Best 2020 winners.

Owner Kyle Lydick was born in Mystic and grew up in Ashaway, RI. He developed a passion for cooking from a young age when he helped his father prepare meals. He started working in restaurants at the age of 14 and never looked back. Kyle graduated from Johnson & Wales with a degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management. At 22, he jumped at the opportunity of a lifetime when he was offered the Executive Chef position at The Olympia Tea Room in Watch Hill. He remained there until he purchased Scott’s in late 2018.

Since taking over the business, Kyle has kept the essence of Scott’s Meats & Deli which had many loyal patrons. They are focused on adding more local products, along with USDA Prime Meats.

Have you grown a bit weary of cooking night after night? Scott’s has you covered. They prepare fresh-made meals and sides that are continually changing. All are sold by the pound, so you can get as little or as much as you would like.

Also, they always have a variety of items on hand in their freezers. Ready-made meals include stuffed cabbage, Korean beef bowls, gnocchi Bolognese, chicken or turkey pot pies and a variety of oven-ready burritos. Sauces include Bolognese, Sunday gravy and arugula pesto. Check out their soups, too – they offer about ten different kinds! They also have crab cake mix, pulled pork, corn beef hash and sloppy Joe mix on hand. The team at Scott’s works hard to deliver quality products using only the freshest ingredients. Their goal is to make your mealtime easy, delicious and stress-free.

As summer approaches, they’ll roll out more salads and easy sides for grilling.

Kyle says, “Being a part of any community is special. Being a small business owner in this great community is an absolute honor.” He is excited to continue growing the relationship with Niantic Main Street, as he appreciates the support they provide to local businesses in the community. Kyle wants to do his part to support other small businesses in town.

By offering a range of products and services that include high-quality meats, anything-but-ordinary sandwiches and “to-go” meals, Scott’s truly offers something for everyone.

Kyle says his future plans for Scott’s are quite simple. They want to be able to add dry aging to their small market, as well as a smokehouse to be able to continue to add unique products. Adding a food truck is in their five-year plan.

Scott’s is happy to join other local businesses to support all restaurants in town. It’s been a tough year for these businesses, but hopefully our steadfast support will help to see them through to the busier summer months.
